Introduction to Pakistan Association of Western Australia

Pakistan Association of Western Australia was founded almost 25 years ago by a few Muslim families living at Perth. It was a compelling need at that time to create a social life style and also to build a platform which would eventually serve the purpose of developing cultural ties with Australian citizens and the State of Western Australia. It was also the intention that our children will have an established venue to keep serving the upcoming needs of our next generation.

The enthusiastic approach and hard-work of all those members over 25 years can not be forgotten whether they were formally appointed to serve on the committees or quietly helped the cause as ordinary community members. Finally, the Pakistan Association of Western Australia was given a legal standing under the State Laws and was incorporated in 1996 with an approved constitution under the Act.

By the grace of God, we are lucky to have an established Institution which is built on solid grounds and will serve the purpose of integrity and unity of our community and the rest of Australians for a long time to come. We have kept it alive so far and by the grace of God it will remain alive for the next coming generations and foster healthy relations with the people and the land where we all live.

The Pakistan Association of Western Australia is based on non-political agenda. It is an Association of members which caters for their cultural and social needs with respect to their ethnic origin while integrating with Australian way of life. The Association has virtually become a platform where the members can be contacted by all four corners of the world including the government officials from Pakistan, Australia or other private organizations.

Please join hands and contribute in any positive way you like to maintain the integrity and purpose of the Association. Let us declare to build a bright future for the pride of our children.

Message from the Patron

It was a great honor to be invited by the Pakistan Association of Western Australia to become its patron. I am particularly pleased to be associated with an organization which places such a strong emphasis on families and family life, as my professional work as a Family Lawyer brings me into contact every day with families and relationships which have unfortunately broken down. It is accordingly gratifying to me to belong to an association which aspires to promote the family as the fundamental group unit of society, as indeed it is.

I look forward to helping to promote the Pakistan Association of Western Australia in its various cultural and social activities, not only among the Pakistani community but I hope among the wider Western Australian community as well.

Message from the President

I warmly welcome the members of Pakistan Association of Western Australia to celebrate every auspicious and national day together like one united family. We all have our relations tied back in Pakistan or other origins. It is but natural that we miss them especially on religious festive or other national events but it is also important that we do not feel lonely or remain in isolation. This is the high time when we need our brothers and sisters to share our joys and sorrows together under the same roof. I can proudly say that our Association provides that safe roof over our heads. The Association has created a perfect forum which can be symbolized like an extended family where everybody can get together and share their feelings and find solution to their problems.

Most of us have migrated from Pakistan where the cultural values form an eminent part of our daily life. These values are very important to us in our family life and we preach our children to follow our foot-steps. At the same time, we have adorable things to learn and adopt from the Australian way of life. There is always a choice to pick up the best of the both worlds. Our good moral values which teach us to treat others with love, care and mutual respect will stand tall to any test of time. Whereas honesty, trust and social values prevail, I would like to say that people must have their own judgment and a duty of care.
